How a shirt conquered the world
In contrast to the Hawaiian toast, the Hawaiian shirt actually comes from the paradise island in the Pacific. The history of the Hawaiian shirt goes back to Honolulu in the 19th century. Shirts that we now call Hawaiian shirts are said to have been worn there for the first time in 1840.
From the capital, the garment slowly but steadily developed into a nationwide bestseller over the course of the 20th century. The Aloha shirt experienced its heyday in the 1930s. American vacationers and stationed soldiers brought the shirt with them to the mainland. Within a very short time, the shirt became known all over the world. Even American presidents have been photographed in Hawaiian shirts.
Today almost everyone knows the typical Hawaiian patterns and knows where these types of shirts originally come from.
What you can learn from this story: The Hawaiian shirt is clearly not fast fashion. On the contrary, the shirt has been a fashion trend for at least 100 years now. And just like on the stock market, you should also focus on long-term trends in fashion. So what are you waiting for?
Our Hawaiian shirt guide
To find the perfect Hawaiian shirt from our range, we'll give you a few useful tips here. It is particularly important to us that you are satisfied with your new shirt. That's why we thought about the choice of shirt. We would like to use the next questions to make your choice easier and save you frustration.
1.
Are you more into large sizes or do you tend towards a sporty slim fit cut?
The original Aloha shirts from Hawaii are usually loose and loose fitting. However, you will also find a cool variation here that you don't see often: long-sleeved Hawaiian shirts with a slim fit cut and a large 70s collar. You can also wear these in colder seasons. This type of Hawaiian shirt is also great for 70s themed parties or hit events. With this style you will definitely stand out from the crowd at the party. Or have you ever seen a long-sleeved party shirt with a Hawaiian motif at such an event?
However, if you prefer stomach sizes, we recommend the classic Hawaiian shirt cut. With this cut you have more freedom than with a slim fit cut.
2.
What kind of Hawaiian shirt type are you?
The last aspect is not so easy to ignore, but is essential for you to find the best shirt for your style:
The motif.
The typical Hawaiian motifs contain elements that have a certain connection to the Pacific island. That would primarily be beaches, the sea, palm trees or hibiscus flowers. With us you will find exactly these motifs in all imaginable combinations and colors. You can also expect other patterns outside of these classic variants: including VW vans, hot rods or flamingos in typical Hawaiian scenes.
Whether you stick with the original patterns or go for something more unusual is first of all a question of your willingness to experiment. And of course also a question about how much you want to stand out. With a plain shirt with a white floral pattern you are always on the safe side. If you feel like daring a little more, then take a look at our pink flamingo shirts.
What does Comycom have in common with Hawaiian shirts?
If you don't know Comycom yet, we would like to tell you something about us: We are a small company from Hesse that has been producing clothing in Turkey
for more than 20 years.
We originally started out as a producer of flared trousers and bootcut jeans. Over time, we expanded our range to include unusual 70s fashion and especially 70s shirts. With the 70s shirts came ideas for shirts with Hawaiian patterns. And so we started experimenting. From an experiment as part of a small range expansion, Hawaiian shirts have become an integral part of Comycom over the years.
Today we can no longer imagine life without you and we are particularly proud of our
specially produced Hawaii shirt with autumn leaves motif.
