Men's Bootcut Jeans by COMYCOM
When the flared trouser first conquered the fashion world in the 70s and bloomed for a second time in the early 2000s in the form of the bootcut jean, one thing was clear: this cut would write fashion history. Today, around 25 years after its early-2000s comeback, the bootcut is once again the talk of the town. With us, you'll find an extensive collection of men's bootcut jeans in a wide variety of colours, washes and cut variations.
What defines a true bootcut?
The bootcut first appeared in the 90s and was originally introduced as a more understated alternative to the classic flared trouser. Like the flare, the bootcut is characterised by a widened leg opening.
The name already reveals a lot: "boot" refers to exactly that – a boot. Bootcut jeans were originally cut so they could be slipped effortlessly over tall men's boots. That's still their strength today: thanks to the widened leg opening, the trouser leg glides comfortably over any shaft and shows off your boots beautifully at the same time.
You'll often hear the terms "bootcut" and "flared trouser" used interchangeably. At Comycom, however, we deliberately distinguish between the two cuts. Especially when it comes to the leg opening – the so-called »flare« – there are significant differences, which is why we present both variants separately.
Our flared trousers widen considerably more towards the leg opening than our bootcut models. Above the knee, both variants sit close to the body or loosely (slim fit, regular fit or comfort fit). For our bootcut jeans, this specifically means flare widths of around 24.5 cm up to a maximum of 32 cm, measured simply as the diameter of the leg opening. The exact leg opening naturally depends on the waist size and length of the jeans you choose.
Our classic flared trousers, by contrast, only start at 34 cm and reach an impressive 42 centimetres of flare width. And for anyone who likes it even more extravagant, we offer the so-called "mega flares" – with flare widths between 42 and 52 centimetres (measured simply).
An overview: the men's bootcut jeans range at Comycom
To help you find your way around our selection quickly, we've put together all currently available variations with short explanations:
Materials:
- 100% cotton: The true denim classic with 12 – 14 oz fabric weight
- 98% cotton, 2% elastane: Denim with a stretch component – ensures a pleasant wearing comfort with full freedom of movement
- 100% organic cotton: 100% GOTS-certified, sustainably produced organic denim of particularly high quality with a solid 13 oz
Cuts:
- Slim Fit: Closely cut jeans that sit snugly along the leg above the knee – emphasising a sporty, slim silhouette
- Regular Fit: Cut slightly more generously around the thighs and therefore noticeably more comfortable than our slim-fit versions
Washes:
- Used wash: Our classic used look with evenly sized, worn-effect areas that start just below the knee and reach roughly down to below the front pockets
- Dirty wash: Bootcut jeans with additional wash effects in a subtle brown tone for an even stronger used character.
- Random wash: A special variant of the used wash, in which a unique process creates uneven, lightened areas of varying sizes. Each wash cycle produces a one-of-a-kind result – every pair of jeans becomes a true unique piece.
- Raw denim: Our range also includes some models without any wash, or with only minimal treatment. These jeans impress with a firmer, more robust fabric structure that adapts to the wearer over time. If you wear your raw denim long enough, you'll see signs of wear develop in a completely natural way and the used look will appear all by itself.
How to style outfits with men's bootcut jeans
The bootcut jean is the perfect middle ground between an everyday trouser and an eye-catching statement piece. At the office, a bootcut keeps you looking subtly elegant, while at the same time setting your look apart from the majority of straight-leg wearers. At any festival or a 70s-themed party, it gives you just the touch of extravagance that's sure to turn heads.
As you've already read, Comycom offers a particularly broad variety of bootcut jeans for men. The styling possibilities are correspondingly endless. To make it easier for you to get started, we've put together a few sources of inspiration:
- 70s summer look with a light-coloured bootcut jean, combined with a loosely cut tie-dye shirt and a few of our hippie accessories – this completes the relaxed festival look with an unmistakable 70s touch.
- Autumn outfit consisting of a dark bootcut jean and one of our plain shirts with a "Dackelohr" collar shirt or a paisley shirt from our range.
- Patchwork outfit featuring one of our patchwork bootcut jeans, a matching jacket or waistcoat and selected accessories – that's how you make a bold statement.
- Western outfit with a used- or dirty-washed bootcut jean, sturdy cowboy boots and a western shirt.
If none of these suggestions really grabs you, you're probably looking to attract even more attention. In that case, you should definitely take a look at our wide selection of men's flared trousers. The flare embodies the 70s style in its purest form and is regarded as the "big brother" of the bootcut. With flare widths starting from 34 centimetres upwards (and reaching up to around 42 cm), you'll show off character and style even more distinctly.
